ABOUT

WAKE FOREST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH

GET TO KNOW US

We have a vast array of programs for you and your family to get involved in and serve with.  Each age group has opportunities to worship, serve, and find community.

God speaks in diverse ways as we feature different music, prayers, scripture, and sermons to give a fresh perspective on Jesus’ love and grace each Sunday. Music is in a variety of traditional styles and the teaching is practical and biblical, ready to prompt you for transformation.

We strive to create lifelong followers of Christ, so please know that your kids are welcome to worship with us in the main sanctuary, although we also offer Nursery (toddlers and preschoolers, beginning in our preschool building) and Children’s Church (elementary schoolers, beginning in worship). The decision is up to you.

Our Mission

To reach out to all in the name of Jesus to make disciples for the transformation of the world.

Our Vision

To be a Church For Wake Forest

Christ-Centered

Service Driven

Community Focused

WHO WE ARE

Grace-full

We are fully dependent upon God's redeeming and transforming grace.

Connectional

Every United Methodist congregation is connected to every other one.

Missional

We serve others in Jesus’ name and proclaim the gospel through word and deed.

Practical

Our faith needs to make a difference in the way we live each day.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

United Methodists share a common heritage with all Christians. According to our foundational statement of beliefs in The Book of Discipline, we share the following basic affirmations in common with all Christian communities:

  • God - God, who is one, is revealed in three distinct persons.
  • Jesus - We believe in the mystery of salvation through Jesus Christ. God became human in Jesus of Nazareth; and his life, death and resurrection demonstrates God's redeeming love.
  • The Holy Spirit - The Holy Spirit is God's present activity in our midst. When we sense God's leading, God's challenge, or God's support or comfort, it's the Holy Spirit at work.
  • Human Beings - Genesis 1:27 asserts that we've been made in the image of the Creator. Like God we have the capacity to love and care, to communicate, and to create.
  • The Church - The church is the body of Christ, an extension of Christ’s life and ministry in the world today.
  • The Bible - We believe that the Bible is God’s Word and is the primary authority for our faith and practice.
  • God’s Reign - The kingdom or reign of God is both a present reality and future hope.
  • Sacraments - With many other Protestants, we recognize the two sacraments in which Christ himself participated: Baptism and the Lord's Supper.  Read More

OUR HISTORY

GET TO KNOW WAKE FOREST UMC

The roots of WFUMC church go back to 1829 when members of the local Methodist Society constructed a building called the Hartsfield Meeting House in Rolesville. In 1859 a new church was built in Rolesville and called the Rolesville Methodist Church. In 1936 with the local population shifting to Wake Forest the church moved to its current location and a new building was built with 67 members on the original charter. In the early years the church grew slowly.

The parsonage was built in 1957, and renovations to the church were completed in 1970, 1973 and 1986. In 1999, with our membership beginning to grow rapidly, we built our new Worship Center. Rapid growth continued, and in 2011, we completed the addition of a Family Life Center on our campus. In 2018, a new church campus of our church launched in Rolesville, NC called Village Church Rolesville.

Today, as we continue to reach out to all, our membership continues to grow. We are excited to reach out to a growing community with a new and fresh way of being church! Our story is a part of God’s story and we look forward to all the ways God continues writing the story of his love in Wake Forest and Rolesville.
