ABOUT US

WAKE FOREST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH

GET TO KNOW US

At Wake Forest UMC, we believe that discipleship begins with relationships. Whether you're brand new to church or have been on the journey for years, you’ll find a place here to make friends, grow in your relationship with Jesus, and make a difference in the world.

We gather each Sunday to experience God’s love through music, prayer, Scripture, and practical, biblical teaching that speaks to everyday life. We welcome all ages to worship and grow together.

Children are always welcome in the sanctuary, and we also offer Nursery care (for toddlers and preschoolers) and Children’s Church (for elementary-aged kids) during worship—whatever works best for your family.

There are many ways to get connected—small groups, service teams, learning opportunities, and more. We’d love to help you find a place to belong as we follow Jesus and serve our neighbors together.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

At Wake Forest United Methodist Church, our beliefs shape how we live, love, and serve. We are an inclusive church where all are welcome, and we believe that faith grows in community as we follow Jesus together.

God – We believe in one God, who is revealed in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Jesus – We believe in the mystery of salvation through Jesus Christ. God became human in Jesus of Nazareth, and through his life, death, and resurrection, we see the fullness of God's redeeming love.

The Holy Spirit – The Holy Spirit is God’s presence with us today—guiding, comforting, challenging, and empowering us to live as Christ’s followers in the world.

Human Beings – Every person is created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27). We are made with the capacity to love, care, create, and reflect God’s goodness. We believe every person has sacred worth.

The Church – The church is the body of Christ, called to extend Christ’s love and mission in the world today. We are not a perfect people, but a people following Jesus together.

The Bible – We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and is our primary guide for faith and life.

God’s Reign – We trust in the kingdom of God as both a present reality and a future hope. We are invited to participate in God's work of justice, peace, and renewal even now.

Sacraments – We celebrate two sacraments that Jesus himself participated in: Baptism and Holy Communion. In these sacred moments, we experience God’s grace in real and tangible ways.

Service – We believe we are called to serve others with compassion, humility, and joy—both within our church and throughout our community—as an expression of God’s love in action.

2026 MISSIONAL PRIORITIES

Engage in Transformative Worship

We aspire for everyone to experience God's transformative means of grace through hearing God's Word read and engagingly proclaimed, meaningful music from our musicians, adult choirs, cantatas, youth and children's choirs, robust congregational singing and shared prayers.

Strengthen Ministries with Children, Youth and Families

We feel called to strengthen our wonderful children, youth and family ministries by adding another 10 hours a week to the staffing of this ministry and reimagining staff roles to create the Family Ministry Assistant position.

Bolster Discipleship Opportunities

We aspire for everyone to experience God's transformative means of grace through hearing God's Word read and engagingly proclaimed, meaningful music from our musicians, adult choirs, cantatas, youth and children's choirs, robust congregational singing and shared prayers.

Cultivate Community Connections

We intend to share God's love by cultivating community connections that may be dormant since the pandemic, as well as celebrate the connections that were maintained.

OUR HISTORY

GET TO KNOW WAKE FOREST UMC

The roots of WFUMC church go back to 1829 when members of the local Methodist Society constructed a building called the Hartsfield Meeting House in Rolesville. In 1859 a new church was built in Rolesville and called the Rolesville Methodist Church. In 1936 with the local population shifting to Wake Forest the church moved to its current location and a new building was built with 67 members on the original charter. In the early years the church grew slowly.

The parsonage was built in 1957, and renovations to the church were completed in 1970, 1973 and 1986. In 1999, with our membership beginning to grow rapidly, we built our new Worship Center. Rapid growth continued, and in 2011, we completed the addition of a Family Life Center on our campus.

Today, as we continue to reach out to all, our membership continues to grow. We are excited to reach out to a growing community with a new and fresh way of being church! Our story is a part of God’s story and we look forward to all the ways God continues writing the story of his love in Wake Forest.
